Details! AT&T DSL with a free MoGo

Friday, December 14th, 2007

You asked, we answer: here are some more details about that free MoGo offer over at AT&T…

The ELITE and PRO offers are bundled with some great fetures, including Free Wi-Fi at nearly 11,000 hot spots, Free Broadband Extras: ESPN.com 360, Disney Connections, ABC News Now, and a Free Gateway (a $79.99 value). And the price is extremely competitive: about the cost of a large or extra-large pizza (depending on which plan you use) - plus, if you’re switching from cable internet, AT&T will give you 3months - FREE.

All the DSL offers come with AT&T Mail Guard for anti-spam and anti-virus e-mail protection, as well as pop-up blockers and parental controls (just to name a few). And AT&T’s TrueSwitch™ service makes moving to AT&T simple. The service will automatically transfer your contacts, addresses, favorites and calendar, and forward your email for you.

Want to find out more?  Head over to AT&T,  enter your phone number, and see what AT&T DSL can offer you (in addition to the free MoGo Mouse!) with no obligation.

Great Fan Post: “MoGo Bluetooth Mouse - Best. Swag. Ever.”

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Man nothing manes me happier, and I really mean this, NOTHING makes me happier than waking up and stumbling upon some happy camper with a MoGo Mouse. It warms me right up, and living in Montana, that’s saying something.

So, after crawling through some older RSS feeds, I just so happened to find something I am sad it took me this long to find. Basically it’s a new friend of MoGo who was given one of our lovely little MoGo Mice as a speakers gift. Our new friend is none other than Rick Klau, and he was a speaker at none other than the Blogworld Expo. Believe it.

Basically, here’s what he had to say, and I’m glad he said it. Thanks Rick and stay tuned for all our new products coming out soon:

“I spoke at Blogworld Expo yesterday and the speaker gift was a Bluetooth mouse from MoGo. It’s a PCMCIA (PC Card? I can’t remember what we’re supposed to call those blessed peripherals any more) card that charges its battery while inserted. When removed, it’s a wireless mouse that connects to your computer via Bluetooth. The form factor is terrific – surprisingly solid for such a thin device – and it slides easily on a flat surface.

I ran into one of the guys from MoGo who asked how I liked the mouse, and I told him I was really impressed. Funnily enough, I didn’t realize I actually had a PCMCIA slot – I thought I just had Express Card slots. At which point he pulled out the newer MoGo mouse, which is an ExpressCard model – and is both a mouse and a PowerPoint remote (including a laser pointer). My presentation was an hour later, and I used it to drive my presentation. It was great – really a nice addition to the laptop. Thanks to MoGo for the gift!”

Kudos Rick, and good work on good biz MoGo.

Verizon To Open Up Network in ‘08

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Hold onto your hats my friends and fellow In-Networkers. Verizon Wireless is officially going to open up their network to any and all CDMA-based phones. Any.

According to the article over at CrunchGear, “you can bring any CDMA-based phone to Verizon, provided it passes the “very reasonable” certification tests involving “basic network interactivity and a simple security screen.” Wow. The ability to shop ‘outside the box’ as it were, can really provide some extremely exciting opportunities for an already dominating vendor.

What mobile warrior phones will you be bringing over to Verizon when the Network is unlocked? I am curious when/if phones like the iPhone will make their way over after some hackery and debauchery. I’m curious to see what kind of sweet phones I can update to; although, right now for my mobile warrior needs, the LG Voyager just so happens to be rocking my socks off.

Sound off, what are you pumped for? Hit me…

Asking Elizabeth… New Orders, Old Orders

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Although many orders have been filled, there are still some folks patiently (and running-out-of-patiently) waiting for their new X54 mice.

To those folks (yes, I’m looking at you, Andy) I want to express a personal thanks. Your comments have been intelligent, clear, and often humorous as you look to your mailboxes for that order.

Although no one lets me play with the postage meters,  I want you to know that we read and personally pass to the right hands each email and comment.  If you are one of those handful looking for specific help  - please remember that the North-American Direct Support Mailbox  is  HERE.

Always helpful if you send include your order number, order date, company you have ordered from, in the “issue” box. Thanks.

In the meantime, a special thank-you and bow to Scott - who made us laugh out loud with the way he wrote about his issue:

Hi. I want to love you and your wonderful little Mogolicious Mice, but I
can’t. And do you know why I can’t? Because I have been told no less than
SEVEN (7) times from Tiger Direct that my X54 order will ship on x date,
only to have that day come and go with no fanfare, no joy and most
disheartening…no mouse, because, according to them, they are waiting
on you. Today, I was given a new date of December 20th…lucky number 7.
Please, can you guys give me a straight answer on when I really might be
able to expect my X54? I sent you a note a month ago, and was told that
Tiger Direct would have their backorders filled by the beginning of December.
That is looking not to be the case.

Scott - the MoGo team has your info and I’m sure they will be in touch, soon.

Wii and Bluetooth

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Don’t tell my son, but Santa is bringing us a Wii for Christmas.

And by ‘Santa’, I mean my enterprising husband - who hunted one down over Black Friday and stuffed it in the back of our closet. This is the display of some of the greatest restraint ever shown by a techno-crazy man.

One of my concerns about getting a Wii was the barrage of ‘Ping! Splat! Wowza!’ that would echo through our house at all hours as we engaged in Mario-Sonic Olympics.

Not to worry.

As it turns out, Wii is Bluetooth-enabled. An excuse, if ever one was needed, to buy several MoGo Headsets when they roll into production. This will create a truly personal and wireless playing experience.

On the flip side, having those cool Wii-remotes (’Wiimotes’) be Bluetooth-based means that several enterprising hackers have found ways to turn them into mice for your computer.

Because the remotes aren’t designed for that use (unlike the MoGo x54 series) , the results of these experiments have been very interesting.

Perhaps my favorite is the guys who turned their Wii motes into Lightsabers on their Macs.

Mobile Phone Turns Deadly?!

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

As a mobile warrior, you and I both know the Mobile Warrior code:  We die with honor and glory.  Right?  Ok, maybe as mobile warriors we’re actually apples fallen pretty darn far from a true warriors tree…well, most of us.

So, this one isn’t exactly technology related in a GOOD way, it is interesting and hopefully updates will explain to us that it isn’t true.  Anyhow, here goes:  A man reportedly was found dead in South Korea and according to a doctor, the 33 year-old quarry worker was found dead “with a mobile phone stuck to his chest. It is believed that the device may have caused the death. The man had burns on his chest, fractured ribs and internal bleeding.”  Wow.  Authorities are wondering if the death could be attributed to the phone itself, possibly a faulty battery?

UPDATE:  Ok, mid-research on this one I find out that now South Korean officials are saying the chances of an explosion from the battery causing this man’s death are slim to none.  The cause of death has yet to be determined, but LG and others are claiming it is not a possibility.  What did happen?  The moment I Know, you’ll know.

Hackers, Were They Ever the ‘Bad Guys’?

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

As computing crawled out of its niche and into the mainstream 15, 20 years ago, hackers often painted themselves as a necessary good. Independent, savvy, dedicated individuals who felt that by exposing weaknesses, they were making the computing world a better place.

Software companies, like Microsoft, rarely agreed. Hackers were frozen out of corporate positions, maligned in the press, and the subjects of a Cold War that endured for over a decade.

It didn’t stop them.

Ultimately, the old adage ‘keep your friends close; your enemies closer’ kicked in and several companies beganconsulting with and hiring hackers to help them build safer, more robust products.

As Microsoft battles a year which may be remembered more for its security holes than anything else I was fascinated to read - Ina Fried’s C|Net series about how Microsoft has finally thawed and begun brining in hackers (”Bug Hunters’) every 6 months to work with their security teams.

Battling the generations of mistrust, the two sides break up the formality with bug costumes, late-night scavenger hunts, and joke cracking.

2 years into this glasnost, will better relations mean a safer product for you in the years to come? One can only imagine it’s a step in the right direction.
