Bluetooth & Vista
by Elizabeth Blair York | May 1st, 2007After reading my esteemed colleague’s post last week about Linux & Bluetoooth, I wondered if there were any other platforms with a Bluetooth issue.
Then I read Tris’ post about struggling with Window’s new operating system, Vista, and Bluetooth.
Turns out that the Microsoft Bluetooth stack has been removed from most profiles in Vista. It’s a “bug” doesn’t affect all Bluetooth devices, and shouldn’t interfere with using the MoGo mouse or headset.
But if it is stopping you from going wireless with your Vista machine, here’s my advice:
1) First, check Microsoft’s official instructions, then Microsoft’s official ‘‘Bluetooth Don’t Work‘ troubleshooting page.
2) If at first you don’t succeed… over at Dev-Toast, there is a very well-written tutorial on “getting complete and enhanced Bluetooth functionality in all version of Windows Vista .”
3) Remember, tech bulletin boards like Whirlpool or ComputerHaven are great places to post questions and get answers from real people in the trenches.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi John,
First, let me say I’m not a MoGo tech. They have customer support who can provide you with solid, official, corporate-backed support. I’m going to point you in their direction.
If you want to try the standard paths of ‘fixing’ before you make the call, start by heading over to the “Hardware and Sound” section of your Control Panel, and choose Bluetooth Devices.
Then find your MoGo Mouse there and “Remove”.
Then choose “Add” (make sure your MoGo Mouse is fully charged, on, and nearby). Click the “My device is set up and ready to be found” and choose “Don’t use a passkey” and then walk through the rest of the wizard.
Still doesn’t work? May I recommend:
Toshiba’s customer support has a downloadable Bluetooth stack here: http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
Good luck, and please let me know how it goes!
