The MoGo X54 is available for purchase
by Elizabeth Blair York | August 14th, 2007The last few weeks as Newton Peripherals has been prepping for sale, I’ve had many emails like this:
When will the X54 & X54Pro launch for purchase?
Well, Great news!!!! The major online retailer, TigerDirect, has started taking orders as of August 13th. Here are the links for the X54’s:
MoGo Mouse X54 Pro (Mouse and Presenter with Laser Pointer)
MoGo Mouse X54 (Mouse and Media Remote)
We will be updating website this week.

Haha, now I’ve gotta decide… Pro or regular?? :-/
Pro might be nice for college in a year from now… But regular is cool cause I listen to music and watch movies pretty often… But I already have media buttons on the front of my laptop… But college is a whole year away… Decisions decisions!
I do have a couple questions, though, and I figured I would put them here in a comment so that you can publicly reply to them (if you don’t want to create a whole new post).
When the regular (media) version of the mouse is in the media mode and you press the buttons, does it send the standard global keypresses for mute, vol up/down, play/pause, stop, forward/back or is there special software that just targets certain programs? For instance, does it use the same method for sending those key press signals as, say, a media keyboard or the media buttons on the front of my laptop (Dell E1705)? This is something important to me because the media buttons on the front of my laptop work great, and I want to make sure the mouse will work just as well.
Also, please add the following applications to the chart at http://www.newtonperipherals.com/mogo_mouseX54.html or at least inform us of the compatibility of them, or as many of them as you can test:
Winamp, Foobar2000, VLC, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Center
One more thing: does the X54 mouse work with Linux (especially Ubuntu)? I don’t expect the pro version’s presentation features to work but I would love to be able to use the mouse features and media features (if i get the regular version) with my Ubuntu partition.
Some small errors in the FAQ, as well: the question about scrolling needs to be updated, you misspelled “colleagues”, and the last question’s answer doesn’t make much sense. Just thought I would let you know, so that perhaps you could forward it on to the web development department and they can fix it at the same time as they update the X54 status on the website.
Thanks!

My order was canceled from tigerdirect.com after about 48 hours after ordering. They say that the order cannot be fulfilled
“TigerDirect would like to thank you again for your order. Unfortunately, one or more items on your order cannot be fulfilled due to circumstances beyond our control (ie: item no longer available, discontinued, etc.).
The details of cancellation are listed below.

Will the x54 be shipping any sooner than the TigerDirect website claims? Right now it has a will ship in 45-90days under their purchase button. Any chance we’ll be seeing it sooner from Tiger or somewhere else?

My order was accepted by TigerDirect over 90 days ago and is still listed as ‘backordered’ with no schedule for delivery….
I cannot find one supplier that actually has this product in stock as of this date.
MoGo’s marketing clearly exceeds their ability to deliver this product and frankly, I’m offended by the fact that they list this product as “Available for Purchase’ as of August 13th and are still not making deliveries 90 days later.

Andy, be patient with them. I’ve had this happen before. It’s only because it’s a new product. TigerDirect got anxious and put the item up on their website so that they could be the first supplier, but they weren’t really ready to sell it yet. This has happened to me before with other brand new items. As soon as they are able to, they will ship it to you, unless it really is a legitimate problem (which is doubtful).
The reason why the suppliers aren’t in stock is because they set it that way, since they aren’t ready to sell the item yet, not because they have already sold the mice. TigerDirect should have done the same, but instead they just deceived you. It’s them you should blame, not MoGo.

NONE of MoGo’s distributors can currently (as of 11/17/2007) supply these products…. not just Tiger Direct…
CDW now allows you to ‘pre-order’ at a price of $103.00! Several other sites list it as ‘coming soon’ or ‘call for availability’. I’m convinced that there is NO PRODUCT IN THE MARKETPLACE as of this date.
If any of these suppliers had product, they would be shipping…
It would be really nice if a representative of Newton Peripherals (the sponsors of this blog) would provide some REAL information about the availability of the actual product for DELIVERY, not just “Available for Purchase” threads like this one.

I am starting to believe that I purchased vaporware over 90 days ago…. Tigerdirect.com said I would have had it by now. Mogo or tiger should try to compensate us for this insane delay. If they didn’t jump the gun with this stupid preorder, I would have been happy with the mx revolution for notebooks

I see that Tigerdirect has pulled there add and no longer offer the pre order and have discontinued the sale of the X54 or X54 Pro. Sad news as I have been waiting for this device for quit some time.

I doubt this item exists. I have also been waiting a long time for this product to come out and it seems like nobody is actually shipping this item. there is a link from the manufacturer (Newton) to Tiger Direct and Gateway as the only retailers to buy from but neither Tiger or Gateway is shipping any product. Gateway says “shipping first half of December (Ha! what year?) and Tiger has pulled this product off it’s website. Also, this can be ordered through SkyMall, but I called them and they say this item ships from Tiger Direct (what?)

if no one on ebay is selling the x54 than it is safe to assume that no one has received a single x54 in the world (except for Elizabeth Blair)

This is the PERFECT gift for my Fiancee. I ordered from a place called electronic-pulse on 15 Jan. 2008. I got an e-mail stating that they couldn’t ship because my shipping and billing address didn’t match. That’s funny because their site gives the option to have a different shipping address.
Also, my order # was 102. I’m going to have to call Visa and put an alert on this.
